Our little random adventure...

Last Saturday, Dan and I didn't really have anything planned for the day or anything we really had to do. We ended up deciding to go for a drive since it was a nice weather day, and we thought we'll just see where it leads us. We just drove around town for a little while, and then the next thing I know we are in PA. By now it's completely dark outside and I begin to ask Dan if he has any intention of turning around soon since we have no clue where we are or at least stop so I can eat dinner. We end up finding a Cracker Barrel and decide to stop there. I thought this would be fun because I hadn't been since I was a child when my grandmother would always take us.

I forgot how much I use to like going there because as soon as you walk in it's like a little gift shop. It has all the cool children's toys I use to love playing with, and different Holiday decorations for all my favorite Holidays. So to say the least, I had so much fun looking and shopping around. I bought a cute little Halloween decoration that I can't wait to put out and a cute gift for someone I know. I hope they like it. Dan and I were like big kids. Taking pictures wearing funny hats, and playing with some old school favorite toys of ours.

Once we were done goofing around, we finally were ready to sit down and eat. By then it was already 9:30 so not to many people were there. I kind of liked it this way. Of course they have that famous game of theirs that they keep at each table. I honestly can't recall the name of the game though. I couldn't even remember at the time when we were playing. I even tried looking on the back of the game to see what it was called and it's something that I would have never guessed. Some weird long name. Anyways, of course we had to take turns trying to out do one another. You know, just your friendly husband and wife competition. We are definitely both competitive and hate losing. Well, I only hate losing to him (hehe).

So the food was definitely yummy and I couldn't believe that after two dinner meals, endless amounts of sweet peach tea and dessert, are bill only came to $19.99! I thought that was pretty cheap. I will definitely have to make a few more trips back there more often. We both enjoyed it a lot.

Ravens Game

Friday night we got to go to the Ravens first preseason home game. Luckily, it turned out to be a nice night because trying to get there was hell. The weather went from looking ugly to being extremely horrible. Water was everywhere, coming down as hard as it could and all I could stress about was that we were on our way to watch a game in this kind of weather. For all I knew the game might be cancelled or delayed. Somehow though the sky managed not to open up over top of the stadium and once we got there we were in the clear and it was GAME TIME!

We started out seating literally the third throw down from the very top of the stadium and I realized two very important things that night. First thing was that I might be skinny, but I am extremely out of shape. I felt like I was going to die once we finally made it up all those stairs to the very top. Second thing was once we sat in our seats and I looked down to realize how high we really were,  I went straight in to a panic attack. No joke! I'm talking, teary eyes, throat closing, feeling like I'm about to take a horrible tumble down all these seats and plunge to my death. Way scarier then I could have imagined. Never realized I was that scared of heights. Now I know, and I don't know if I can truly go to another game where I sit that high.

It all worked out though because the people we were with had friends down in section 125 (which is pretty close to the field) and we moved are little butts down there fast. My time there was great after that. I could see all the players faces and every play. I've never been to a game where I've sat that close before so it was pretty awesome. We ended up having a great time!

Family Time

Tuesday night I went over my Mothers house to see my niece, Ryleigh Belle. She is getting so big now and I feel like I am missing everything. The last time I saw her she was starting to stand, and now she is full on walking everywhere! She is such a little sweetie pie. We had ourselves a little fun on the trampoline. She laughs so hard and finds it so funny to jump around on it. I can't get enough of her cuteness!

Since Tuesday was also the anniversary dealth of Elvis, and my sister just so happened to be wearing a t-shirt with a picture of Elvis (not on purpose) we had to have a little photo shoot. I even made her (try to) do the Elvis move.

Sunday Funday

I have a little brother, Nick who is 7 years old (yes, we are 18 years apart, crazy). I don't get to see him as much as I would like to or should so we planned a play day for Sunday.

Sunday, started off with Dan and I going to a local pizza place, Pizza John's, before heading to get Nick. I only expected to grab a slice of pizza and be on our way. Dan buys a large pizza for just the two of us to sit down and eat. Wow, he must really think I can put some pizza away. I must have thought the same thing because I sure tried too! Their pizza is extremely yummy and definitely one of my local favorites, but it is such a greasy pizza that I instantly feel sick.  How wonderful, I am about to go pick up my brother and I feel disgusting (I'll spare you the gross details).

We finally pick up Nick and our first stop is another local favorite of mine, Baltimore Snowball Factory. They have some awesome snowballs. I just love the way they shave the ice and they load it with such great flavors! Once we finish enjoying our delicious snowballs we head to Dan's sister's home to pick up his Niece and Nephew. Our second stop was the playgroud at Cowenton Ridge Park, located in Perry Hall. They have a nice little playground there and it was great because it wasn't crowded at all. The kids all made instant friends with the other kids on the playground and seemed to be having lots of fun. So much fun in fact that Uncle Dan had to get in on the action. I always call Dan my "Big Kid." I can only imagine what it's going to be like when we have children of our own. I'm in trouble!  :-)

Sling Shots, Black Eyes, Water Spouts...OHH MY

Saturday was suppose to be planned as a casual day of just the girls going out on our friend Chris' house boat for a nice, peaceful, and relaxing day. The husbands had a change of plans, so they ended up going with us. Okay, that works, couples boat trip it is! We didn't get off to a good start and we probably should have known things were only going to go south when Chris had to go buy a new battery for the boat. Once we were able to get the battery working and had the boat all gassed up, what would you know, it begins to POUR! Okay, no big deal. The rain will pass. They didn't say it was suppose to rain all day, right?!

We make it to our destination, Hart Miller's Island. Things are going fine and everyone is really enjoying themselves even Chris' dog Buffet was having a blast. A few hours and a few beer later the boys get a bright idea. Lets bring out the sling shot and start shooting beer cans from it to the guys out in the water. Maybe not the worst idea ever if it wasn't for the fact that one of the boys on the receiving end of that beer about to head his way at an extremely high rate of speed was my lovely husband. Poor guy didn't have a clue what was being thrown his way, and as he goes to reach for the "Football" (as he said it was) he misses and straight to the eye it goes. After this moment the day (for me at least) went to hell. I started to become slightly annoyed and the rain/ crappy weather wasn't helping my mood. We finally begin to head back to shore. We hit some heavy rain and it begins to look pretty ugly out. The next thing we know, Chris comes out of no where screaming "The back of the boat, look at the back of the boat!!" Okay, what else could go wrong today, I mean really? Well, we all head for the back of the boat and what would you know, a huge water spout is heading right for us! This thing was extremely scary looking and all I can think is "I am going to die on this god damn boat with a bunch of drunks and no one is going to even know how this happened!" Some of us headed to the back/bottom of the boat. Others thought it best to hang outside the boat and watch the many water spouts that (supposedly) kept forming around us.

My girlfriend Mandy was the only smart one to grab a life jacket (well the dogs life jacket). So I began to envision us all going under and Mandy being the only one who would survive. I thought how she would go on to tell our story and they would make a Lifetime movie about us. So of course we had to discuss who would play us all. The crazy water spouts dissipate and we finally make it back, but not before going out with a bang and a save! So the boys one by one seem to be falling in to the water right at the peer we docked at. Our friend Chuck lost his glasses when he fell in. My sweet (drunk) husband decides to jump in to find them . I mean really, what are the odds of you finding his glasses at the bottom of that gross, muggy, nasty water? Well obviously the odds are good because sure enough Dan found them! It was a crazy, yet happy end to our fun filled rainy day. I some how managed to take no pictures this entire trip except the best one of all.

Take Me Out to the Ball Game

Friday night my sister Holly, her boyfriend Josh, Dan and myself all went to see the O's play! I haven't been to a game in a long time so it was nice to go and root for the home team! Our friends and neighbors happened to be going as well so it was fun meeting up with them to say hi and chit chat. It turned out to be a great weather day for a baseball game so we definitely lucked out there. Unfortunately, the O's lost, but we made the best of it with our mini photo sessions, some good old Natty Boh and yummy funnel cake.

What is better than a weekend of nothingness?

This weekend was a quiet and relaxing one. We just spent all day Saturday sleeping in, napping and watching Shark Week. It was actually really peaceful and extremely nice to just do nothing! Sometimes the work weeks go by so fast and then here comes the weekend that flies by even faster. So it's great to have weekends that are filled with nothingness where you can just kick back and breath!

Saturday night we did venture out to Carson's Creekside to see our friends band, Bad Apples play. It's always a good time when the whole gang can come out to support the band. All the girls enjoyed bottles of Barefoot Moscato (one of our favorites) and a little girl talk.

Sunday, Dan and I finally did some full on grocery shopping. We hate grocery shopping and we have been pretty bad about dinning out all the time recently so we decided to get back on track. Dan grilled out and made us some yummy steaks and lots of delicious veggies! I made us a broccoli and swiss cheese Quiche, which I must say turned out great! I'm getting better and better at this whole cooking thing. Who would have guessed?! :)

Some of Dan's mixed veggies before they hit the grill

Surprise Visit

My younger cousin Jake came in to town last week and surprised my mom and our family with a visit. It was great to see him since I haven't seen him since my wedding last October! We had a lot of fun just hanging out, catching up, playing with puppies (Dan's mom breeds yorkies) and trying to compete along with the game show "Minute to Win it." We attempted to race by seeing who could get an Oreo cookie from their forehead down to their mouth without using their hands. The downside, we only had the Oreo cookies that were dipped/covered in chocolate. So of course I looked super cute after the race was over with chocolate all down my face!

Last Lacrosse Game

So here I am again, doing what I said I would try so hard not to do. Slacking on this whole blog thing. It's truly just me being lazy, because I can't say I don't have the time. The time is there, it's just the mood I end up being in that doesn't feel like spending hours on here. Though, I truly enjoy blogging and more so reading other people's blogs I just have to step it up. So here we go...prepare yourself for like four different blog post in one day. I know, I know...get with it Jess! :)

So last Tuesday was my hubby's last lacrosse game for the summer season. This was his first time back playing lacrosse in years. He played in high school and some of college so it's been a while. I've never actually seen him play before so it was actually nice to attend most of his games and be that support system for the team! It's just a little summer league team so as you can imagine not many people really came out to watch. I think it made him happy to have me there and I really enjoyed watching him get back in to the sport that he really once loved so much. I made sure to bring my camera for the last game so I could capture some nice action shots. I'm glad I did because this ended up being one of the better matched games I had seen all season.

Beach Weekend - Mini Vacation

This past weekend was a three day weekend for me and the hubby. We went down to Ocean City, Maryland with a few of our friends. It turned out to be quite a hot one, but definitely perfect beach weather! We luckily managed to get two full days of beach/tanning time in! Which was what I was really looking forward to on this little mini vacation. We all left bright an early Friday morning to head down the beach so we would have a full day and it turned out to be a great day up until it was time to leave for dinner. As we were all ready to literally walk out the door, I realize (in a panic mode of course) that I do not have my drivers license. This wouldn't be such a big deal if we weren't going to grab dinner at 9 o'clock at night and most places were being turned in to night clubs and everywhere was carding.

If you can't tell by my pictures already, I don't look quite my age and without my drivers license my chances of getting in to anywhere were going to be pretty slim to none. So to say the least, I was upset and annoyed. My sister-in-law happened to be down the beach as well and told us of a restaurant/club that wasn't carding before 9 o'clock. So of course we all begin to hustle our butts to make it to the bus stop to catch it in time to make it there. We just make it and what would you know, they ask for my ID. It took a little convincing and a few crocodile tears, but the manager ended up letting me in with the promise that I wouldn't drink. Geez I haven't had to worry about getting in to "Over 21" places in years, I forgot what it felt like! HA  I was extremely lucky though because I just happen to have an awesome sister and some wonderful friends who all were able to help me out. My drivers license made its way down to Ocean City and in my hands just in time to go out the following night, I know I know...aren't I lucky? I swear these things only happen to me!

Our last night down the beach was pretty low key. We ended up meeting up with a few other friends that were staying down there and we all grabbed dinner at Dough Roller (If you haven't ever eaten there, check it out! Yum). After dinner we all took a walk down the boardwalk and fishing peer. It was a nice quite night and end to our little mini vacation. This weekend made me realize I truly have some wonderful amazing people in my life. I couldn't be anymore thankful for them or blessed!

Summertime and the livin's easy....

So let me start off by saying that I took this whole blog title "A Little Bit of Jessica Here I am..." a bit literal I think. I've been a little busy with everyday life mixed with lack of sleep has not given me any extra motivation to get on here and blog! So I'm going to focus on trying a little harder! So let me get to it already.

Friday night was spent at Wild Duck (which is a restaurant/bar on the water) with a few good friends just hanging out and enjoying the beautiful weather with a cold drink in our hands and our toes in the sand. Well, to be honest my flippy floppy's never came off, but we were in the sand so it's all the same! The atmosphere there was great! Being that I grew up on the water, I just love spending any free time I can by the water or on the water. So in between all us girls taking a million pictures (to blog about of course) we took it easy while relaxing in beach chairs and taking strolls down the peer all while watching the sun set. It was truly the perfect end to the crazy day of work I endured earlier that day.

Saturday, Dan and I had a surprise birthday party to attend. It was actually his father's 70th surprise party and some how it managed to stay a surprise. I'm famous for putting my foot in my mouth at times so I was sure I would probably end up screwing this one up and letting the cat out of the back, so to speak. All turned out well though and he was truly surprised and extremely touched (I think I even saw a tear)! It was a good time had by all. Dan's Aunt from Texas came in to town for the party and family who we hadn't seen in months all showed up too. It was so nice catching up with everyone and getting to spend some quality time together. I know my husband Dan and his father both really enjoyed themselves. It was definitely a special day and something special to celebrate since Dan's father had surgery back in January for his back, which we all know can be serious, but it took a turn for the worse when he had a heart attack while there. Everything ended up being okay and Dan's dad is on the right path of getting and staying healthy so I see many more birthday's in his future!
